Summary: Singapore telco launches Crowdtivate website that provides a platform for entrepreneurs in the country and region to campaign for funds and other related support to kickstart their ideas.
StarHub has unveiled a new crowdfunding website that entrepreneurs in Singapore and Asia can tap to campaign for funds and incubation support.
Called Crowdtivate, the site is currently in beta and aims to offer a platform for ideas to gain financial support via a funding system in return for specific rewards, the Singapore telco said in a statement Wednesday. The new website will also allow budding entrepreneurs to create awareness or seek feedback for their ideas, as well as offer products and services they can tap to support their cause.
The site is jointed managed by StarHub's i3 business unit and Crowdonomic, a Singapore-based advisory firm that focuses on crowd-powered technology.
Entrepreneurs can propose projects for crowdfunding via the site, but will first need to obtain an invitation code to access the platform. Ideas or projects related to technology, assistive technology, as well as arts, books, and films are accepted on Crowdtivate. The website also offers mentorship and support in business incubation and regional outreach. The top three campaigns submitted on the site each month will receive additional aide, including access to test users, marketing support, startup funding, free software development, invention development, and infrastructure support.
Stephen Lee, who heads StarHub i3, said: "Crowdfunding is an extremely popular way for the global community to connect with artists and entrepreneurs, and for them to participate in bringing great ideas to life. Many of the most successful companies today have roots in the crowdfunding community.
"With Crowdtivate, we aim to tap into a continuous source of innovative and creative ideas from local inventors, and ultimately help them grow as a future business or incorporate them into our service platforms."
