Coinbase, the world's most funded bitcoin exchange, was dragged offline by the massive increase in interest in the space. Users have reported issues with various aspects of the service this week, and things reached a head on Thursday when the Coinbase website and mobile apps were unavailable to users for hours due to "unprecedented" levels of trading and traffic, the company said. SEC Wants Companies Issuing Tokens to Protect Their Investors

Now SEC provided a statement on May 23, saying they want ICO's to be fair. They want cryptocurrency startups to protect their investors.

Allegedly, many of these companies have caused alarm bells to sound off because they are not being regulated by any institution or organization. The SEC said just because a company may not be regulated, it does not mean their monetary responsibilities are negated. (Source: Bitcoin.com)

Russian central bank wants a bitcoin tax

The Central Bank of Russia has said that bitcoin and other digital currencies could be recognised as digital goods in Russia and made taxable. The suggestion is just the latest in a long line of proposals put forward by regulatory bodies which don't quite know what to do with cryptocurrencies or how to designate them.

Stripe launches Sigma, a new analytics tool to help businesses track payments data

Payments startup Stripe is always on the lookout for ways it can help its users make better use of its APIs, and occasionally builds new products to solve common problems they face. A good example of that is Sigma, a new data analytics tool the company is rolling out today.

Sigma is a fully customizable SQL tool that will be available as part of all Stripe accounts. The idea behind it is to eliminate the need for Stripe customers to build their own data analytics tooling. That would usually mean building a data pipeline and data warehouse where users would pull information from Stripe before analyzing it. (Source: Techcrunch)
