Online marketplace CoinTribe has raised $10 million in a Series-B round of funding led by private equity fund Sabre Partners.
CoinTribe’s existing investor Puneet Dalmia also participated in the round.
The company plans to use the funds raised to reach out to more borrowers and expand operations to newer locations in the country. “We had been in discussions with Sabre Partners for almost seven months for this deal, but now, they have participated majorly in the round, having invested almost 85% of the amount, with the rest (15%) coming from Dalmia,” said Amit Sachdev, CEO, CoinTribe.
“We have enough capital. Now, we have to reach out to as many borrowers as possible to help expand operations. We are currently operational in Delhi and Mumbai, and are now targeting Ahmedabad,” said Sachdev.
The firm claims to be disbursing Rs 20 crore every month and is targeting to disburse Rs 600 crore by the end of the current financial year. With merchant transactions going digital, multiple fintech firms are trying to facilitate loans to small enterprises through their platforms in partnership with banks and NBFCs. Rubique, another similar online platform, raised an undisclosed round from Japanese and Russian investors earlier this year.
